ini hanky yang aku ada...actually ni aku beli masa nak kawin dulu..nak guna untuk souvenir , last2 tak pakai pun...tak sangka pula sejak belajar mendekor ni ada juga gunanya...itu pun setelah digeledah kerana mmg tak guna jadi tersorok di celah barang2 yang tak digunakan...

Pemilihan tema hiasan dalaman menjadikan penghuni kediaman ini melatih peribadi keluarga agar teliti dalam rutin mengemas dan membersih.

BAKARAN minyak aromaterapi menjadikan langkah masuk ke kediaman ini disambut ketenangan haruman ros. Seolah-olah seiring dengan kehadiran jambak bunga yang mekar melata di penjuru rumah pangsapuri itu, wangian itu sinonim dengan tema Inggeris yang ditampilkan.

Bagi suri rumah, Rahayu Abdul Halim, kediaman persendirian di Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, Selangor yang dimiliki bersama suaminya, Mohd. Azlin Abdul Khahar pada harga RM62,000 enam tahun lalu, perlu diserikan sebaik mungkin.

Apatah lagi keinginan itu didorong nalurinya yang cenderung melakukan kerja-kerja mereka hias kediaman. Baik langsir, sarung kusyen, alas meja hinggalah kepada ornamen di meja, diakui Rahayu mendapat sentuhan kreatifnya sendiri.

"Dulu saya pernah menghias rumah ini dengan konsep perabot jati. Lama-kelamaan terasa tidak selesa kerana ton warnanya yang gelap. Maka, saya akhirnya memilih untuk menerapkan konsep hiasan dalaman ala Inggeris. Ia lebih ceria dan nampak segar," ujar Rahayu yang mengambil inspirasi daripada pembacaan majalah hiasan dalaman.

TENGAH ATAS: SARUNG kusyen yang sedondon dengan tema.
TENGAH BAWAH: SENI pada kipas siling di ruang tamu.
KANAN: KABINET dinding tampil menarik dengan ornamen miniatur.

Lebih menarik, di dalam ruang tamu yang bersambung pelan lantai dengan ruang makan itu, terdapat banyak perabot lama diberi sentuhan baru.

"Kerusi kayu, kabinet dan rak-rak lama telah saya cat dengan warna putih agar kelihatan serasi dalam konsep dekorasi Inggeris. Tidak perlu membeli perabot yang baru selagi apa yang kita miliki boleh diubah suai mengikut tema yang dikehendaki," katanya.

Ruang yang terhad dalam kediaman bukan halangan untuk Rahayu bereksperimen secara lebih terperinci. Setelah menyusun atur cermin bersiri untuk memaksimumkan ilusi ruang, dinding yang dilekatkan pembahagi bercorak tidak sekali-kali dibiar kosong.

ATAS: LALUAN ke dapur turut dihias cantik. BAWAH: PARA-PARA di dinding nampak elok hanya dengan gubahan hiasan ringkas.

Selain menggantungkan bingkai gambar, para-para kayu terdakap kemas pada aras tinggi dinding. Ia menjadi tempat ideal bagi meletakkan gubahan ringkas.

Gandingan hiasan seperti pinggan dan cawan bermotif bunga-bungaan nampak serasi disusun bersama kendi, bekas penyiram dan juga jambak kecil lavender. Di satu sudut di atas meja, juga ditemukan set peti kayu kecil yang dicat putih dan disempurnakan seni tekap dan tampal bermotif bunga.

"Semua yang dimiliki ini dibeli sedikit demi sedikit. Di Shah Alam ini sudah terdapat banyak kedai yang menjual barangan hiasan Inggeris. Ada yang mahal, ada juga yang berharga murah. Namun, terserah pada pemilik kediaman untuk memilih mana yang sesuai," terangnya yang mendapat sokongan suami dan anak-anak dalam hal menghias rumah.

Dalam kediaman 750 persegi itu, Rahayu bijak menyusun atur perabot agar ruang gerak tidak dikorbankan. Laluan utama ke pintu keluar dari bilik tidur dan dapur tidak dihalang hiasan sarat. Dari aspek keselamatan, faktor tersebut telah diambil kira oleh Rahayu.

"Anak-anak saya yang masih kecil juga diasuh untuk menghargai persekitaran ini. Apabila mereka memahami, tidak timbul masalah tentang dekorasi yang rosak akibat diusik atau dilanggar," ujarnya yang juga secara sambilan menjaga anak-anak jirannya.

Menurut Rahayu, pemilihan konsep hiasan dalaman Inggeris bukan sekadar keinginan bersifat melepaskan batuk di tangga. Minat itu datang bersama tanggungjawab dan disiplin untuk memastikan kebersihannya setiap hari. Habuk sememangnya menjadi 'musuh' utama.

"Tip penjagaan utama adalah penghuni kediaman perlu membersihkannya setiap hari. Jangan tunggu lama tanpa dibersihkan kerana kekotoran yang terkumpul menambahkan kesulitan mengemas," katanya yang secara tidak langsung menganggap semua kerja membersih itu suatu riadah di rumahnya.

How I do Shabby Chic:

-I love flea markets and yard sales. I love finding something that I can doctor up. Nothing works magic like a can of spray paint!
-I love baskets, boxes and old trunks. They make for great storage.
-I love lots of throw pillows and blankets/quilts. I have oversized furniture slipcovered in cream colored fabric. I like "cozy."
-I love mixing patterns and textures. Who said everything has to match?
-I like vintage looking stuff. I want a chenille bedspread like your granny used to own:) I like distressed objects. It doesn't have to be old, it just needs to look old.
-I love old doors and windows. I have an idea for a project down the road the requires etching the glass on an old window. I intend to use this as wall art in my bedroom. We'll see if I ever get it done!
